Ice Cube and DJ Pooh have teamed up with Microsoft to launch the world's first online television network. Titled UVNTV.com, the site streams television shows in real-time using new technology developed by Microsoft.
"We are thrilled to work with Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, both whom have proven track records and have been at the forefront in music, film and television," said John Case, general manager, Developer Division, Microsoft Corp. "We see UNVTV as a leading example of the changing landscape of how consumers experience entertainment, and how the industry is seeking new interactive platforms to better reach their target audiences. By using Silverlight, UVNTV will have the capabilities needed to take the user experience to another level."
UNTV is currently in a pre-launch phase. Cube and others have spent over 2 years working on the site, and are proud to offer viewers channels such as Snoop Dogg's Snoopadelic TV, Christian Audigier's Live TV, and Hip Hop 24/7, which is Ice Cube's channel.
In addition, the site contains a free social network, allowing users to create profiles and connect with others. The members of the community are able to submit show ideas, as well as tryout for production gigs.
The site is currently up, and expects to fully launch in the coming months.
