NBA's Troy Hudson Takes on the Rap Game
By: Angelique Allah Published: Apr. 30, 2007 - New York, NY
After nine years in the NBA, Troy Hudson, #16 of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has announced the summer release of his debut solo rap album Undrafted. The first single from the album, entitled Tru Love, features recording artist Ray J. Other artists on the album include 3:6 Mafia and Trick Daddy.
Undrafted will debut on EMI/ Nutty Boyz Entertainment on May 29.
Hudson admits to being a music lover since he was a child and even was apart of mid-west rap group The Nutty Boyz. He has written over 2,000 songs and in 2004, the basketball player started his Nutty Boyz Entertainment, which has since been renamed Troy E. Hudson Enterprises.
"I started writing and making music because of my love for it, but I also wanted to fill the void of music being represented from the Midwest. It seems that music and culture from this part of the country have been somewhat absent in the music industry. I would also like to help other young artists from the Midwest and other parts of the country pursue their dreams", states Troy.
With NBA playoffs exploding, Troy is lining up a tour to promote his debut album. He is also releasing music from the ten acts currently on his Nutty Boyz Entertainment.
With the release of the album, Hudson is more than ready to prove his rapping, producing and songwriting talents.
He promises his NBA fans that he will always stay true to basketball and looks forward to more years in the league, but music will also be a priority in his life.
"I am really anticipating the release of the album, and I hope that it is well received by hip-hop fans nationwide," says an eager Troy. "They say that you only get one chance to make a first impression. I hope mine is a good one."
The NBA star is also hosting a MySpace contest where a fan could win a canary and platinum diamond chain from his personal collection. The baler will personally fly the winner in and present him or her with the chain. To enter the contest, visit www.t-hudonline.com.
