The most recent edition of Forbes magazine, a premiere publication focusing on current economic and business developments, has tagged Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as a potential partner with Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The business endeavor may result in cost efficient computers built with inner-city urban residents in mind.
50 Cent and his Violator manager Chris Lighty briefly spoke on his multi-faceted business moves, stating, "I'm creating a foundation that will be around for a long time because fame can come and go or get lost in the lifestyle and the splurging." Fitty also added that the artistic and creative side of rapping was simply an avenue, telling Forbes "I never got into it for the music, I got into it for the business."
Lighty spoke on Steve Jobs and Apple computers' digital music stronghold, noting "He [Jobs] is setting a new standard in the music business." In reference, Apple has sold more than 1 billion songs courtesy of iTunes since its inception some five years ago. Additionally, the creation of the iPod has sharply accelerated the music downloading as Apple has generated more than $3 billion dollars in iPod sales.
Even more, 50 Cent was featured in Forbes' "Celebrity 100" list to honor those who have become the most financially rewarded over the last year. While Tom Cruise, the Rolling Stones and Oprah Winfrey topped the list, 50 maintained an 8th place power rank positioning. According to the mag, Curtis Jackson raked in $41 million dollars with his multiple business ventures and record sales.
In related 50 Cent music news, his next sonic installment will be due out before the calendar year is up. The album is yet to be titled.
