NBA's Artest Bottoms Out With First Week Sales Of My World
By: SoundSlam Published: Nov. 10, 2006 - New York, NY
According to SoundScan, in an embarrassing first week of sales, NBA baller Ron Artest sold 343 copies of his debut album, My World. The figures are astonishingly low, seeing that K-Fed even managed to push 6,000 units his first week.
Artest is best known for his scuffle with some fans during a 2004 Pacers/Pistons game. He lost $5 million dollars in salary as a result of his suspension from the confrontation. Earlier this fall, Artest just got off a European tour with Fat Joe.
My World was released under Artest's own Tru Warier Records, in conjunction with Lightyear. Former Sony recording artists Allure are also signed to his label. Check out the SoundSlam archives for an exclusive interview with star defender-turned-hopeful artisan.
