‘Laffy Taffy’ Rap Group, D4L, Inks Deal With Asylum/Atlantic
By: SoundSlam Published: Sep. 30, 2005 - Atlanta, GA
The Atlanta rap group, D4L, had minor radio spin successes with their first single, “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me”, accumulating over 1200 total. However, their second lead single is now impacting radio airwaves around the country at a stronger rate. Already at over 2500 spins, the new track “Laffy Taffy” is garnering the four man group more attention.
D4L may be best represented by their major debut album name, Down For Life. A recent turn of events has D4L ready to do more damage. With a joint venture between Asylum and Atlantic Records, and in accordance with indie label Dee Money Entertainment, D4L will see a more widespread approach to making their music heard, in theory.
The clique’s manager, Johnnie Cabbell of Hitt Afta Hitt Management, announced this week that “This is one of the hottest groups in Atlanta right now. These guys have made a lotta noise in a short period of time. This deal is the result of months of hard work and grinding across the southeast.”
Commenting on the Asylum deal, the owner of Dee Money, Walden Davis, stated, “We are excited about this opportunity to partner with Asylum and Atlantic to take this project to the next level. We are expecting big things.”
D4L’s debut album, entitled D4L: Down For Life, is set for a December 6th release. Check back to SoundSlam.com for additional information.
